The Kiwi law defines four types of legal gambling in New Zealand: lotteries, a Kiwi scratch game, TAB for horse racing and casinos.
Lotteries include Lotto and Daily Keno; Instant Kiwi is the abovementioned scratch card game; TAB is an agency that enables gambling on sports, mainly horse racing; and as for casinos, there are a few in the country.
While TAB and the New Zealand Lotteries Commission are wholly legalized and legit, even accepting bets over the internet, online gambling providers are prohibited from entering the Kiwi market. New Zealanders, though, may gamble with offshore providers.
The New Zealand Gambling Act 2003 also establishes the Gambling Commission - an independent statutory decision-making body. The Commission deals with all Kiwi casino licensing applications.
